Drew & I were discussing this letter in chat last night, and we both are leaning towards it being a real Z letter, and if it is, it places Zodiac in Albany in 1973, during the absence of Z letters...

As you can see by the 1st paragraph in the article, the writer of the Albany letter responds to directly what was written about Zodiac in the paper. The article was written by a KERMIT JAEDIKER....

I'd like to see where or whom this clue may lead to, obviously,Gaik comes to mind, but could be some other scenarios or possibilities too. I am wondering if Z took a job there, or went home to live...

The article ran on 7/22/73, yet the mailer of this letter waited until 9 days later to mail it. Why? Did he read about this in the paper in another area, and then wait until August when he would be in...

The cipher was decoded. DORANCHAK thought the first name may be CONNIE. Both he and WIER think the last name is likely HENLEY or HENLY. I found nobody by these names in the 73 Albany Directory, I did...

Keep in mind there were remailer services back then, so one could have a postmark from Albany even if they had never set foot there.

Even with the double postage and Albany Postmark? Plus, if it was any other city across the entire USA, it wouldn't be as alarming, but out of all the cities in the US, Albany stands out since...

Gaik was a newspaper guy and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he subscribed to the newspapers he worked for, after he left them.

That's certainly possible, Tom. Wonder how far back the Times-Union subscription records go? If Gaik was having that newspaper sent to him in 73, that would be another bit of circumstantial evidence...

This Guy Kermit Jaediker must have written a series of articles about murderers in July, 1973. The one we see asking if Z was dead,or in a hospital, has the headline "Arch Killers-III and is dated...
